Self Motivation

Self motivation is the ability to satisfy a desire, expectation, or goal without being influenced to do so by another person. –

Being able to motivate yourself is the key to success. You must be able to encourage and push yourself beyond your limit, even during the lowest moment in your life. If you are not be able to do that, there is a high chance that you might not be able to achieve your life goals, because no one can help you if you can’t help yourself.

I motivate myself the best when I am provoked. Thus when I am lack of confidence, I will remember the times when I was underestimated, insulted, humiliated and I will be able to tell myself “You can do better than this!” Remembering all these will make me realize how much pain I have dealt with before. So if I could do it then, why not now?

I also talk to myself a lot when I am trying to gain confidence. I talk to the mirror, smile, laugh and make my reflection my best buddy. I have best friends that I can talk to but trust me, no matter how much they believe in you, you must first believe in yourself to gain confidence. Approvals from others don’t always work for me because I am very stubborn. I need to prove to myself to believe. Hence the “talking to the mirror” technique.

It really works, I tell you. Look yourself in the eyes, just tell yourself “YES YOU CAN DO THIS!”. And this is the safest ever. People won’t know what you think, which makes you a stronger person. You have full control on your life. No one knows you better than yourself.


I read a lot of motivational books, and I pay hundreds to go to motivational talks by the best motivational speakers. But why am I still not motivated?

Have you ever had this question in your mind before? People go to such motivational talks and claim that it changed their lives. People read motivational books and claim that it made them a millionaire within a year! Why can’t it happen to you? Sometimes you do feel motivated. But the next day is just another normal day of your life. Nothing changed! Even your feelings stay the same way it was BEFORE the talk/book!

This is what I call “Motivasi Sekejap” (Being motivated temporarily). Sure, when we are in the middle of listening to all the motivational stuff you will get yourself to believe that there is more to be unleashed in your life, there are many things to be grateful of in life and stuff like that. But in the end, it’s all up to you. Yes, YOU!

Those speakers and authors can preach about their philosophies and tell you about the research on the human brain but whose brain is gonna turn your potential into money? Your brain! If you only listen to them without any action, you life isn’t gonna change. You will wake up the next morning with nothing in mind (to change your life) and you will go back to the old you before the talk!

Remember, it’s all up to YOU! So start self motivating, and never be afraid to take the first step!
